This is my project, which entitled TRANS-CAMOUFLAGE, which is about a powerful façade over the building. That means, things are not always what people seen; the façade can be modified by people; and it can be changed by night. The main concept is about to play with people’s fooly eyes, practice all the things from imagination, and bring them into reality.
In French, it is called Trompe-l'œil. This is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions. The methodology is using Digital Camera Printing, such as MVRDV’s Glass Farm. The working system is applying hydraulic drive system that uses pressurized hydraulic fluid to power hydraulic machinery. The structure program is following a grid in 3m x 3m per module.
The reason for me to choose Ladies’ Market becomes my building façade because it is one of the most famous streets in Hong Kong. The building structure is complex, even the situation in that street. The most interesting part in Ladies’ Market is the façade changed according to different timeline and it is mostly depends on the stall structure and the population flow. Therefore, I have the concept of TRANSFORMATION and CAMOUFLAGE.
